This is a beautiful, soft rectangular Leland Green cabochon in a sterling silver statement ring. Like the more common Leland Blue, Leland Green is slag – a hard waste product from the smelting process used in the late 1800s by the Leland Lake Superior Iron Company. It can be found on the beaches of Lake Michigan. This cabochon was beautifully cut from a piece of that found treasure!
The ring is a unique piece to collect and wear and it would make a great gift for someone special!
SETTING: I gave it a fine silver and sterling bezel setting, and a wide, quadruple half-round sterling shank.
SIZE: The stone is about 35mm x 18mm (1 3/8" x 3/4") and the ring will fit a size 9.
FINISH: I gave the silver a dark patina. The silver has a soft, brushed finish.
