About
Welcome! I'm Carla Straessle, a metalsmith working out of my Quebec farmhouse studio. I am the designer, jeweler, photographer, shipper and bookkeeper in this one-woman operation.
The first metalsmithing class I ever took was in a dark, dingy basement studio in an old building in Paris. I was smitten. I later became a writer and editor, but my first love was making jewelry. I got back to it in 2010 and haven't looked back.
I favor minimalist and clean design with a slightly rustic edge. I usually start a piece with the unique, ethically sourced, high-quality gemstones I collect. From there, I create one-of-a-kind, well-crafted, handmade artisan jewelry for you, using recycled sterling silver and gold. The nature that surrounds me is a constant source of inspiration. Think big skies, open fields, and hugely varied plant and animal life.
I am so grateful to my lovely customers in many countries who have discovered me online and continue to support this little business! You allow me to do what I love.
My shop is named after Jessie, a beloved border collie-lab. He spent many lazy hours under my studio bench while I worked. He is immortalized in my logo.
