I often get asked by customers how they should care for their jewelry. That's a very good question! First of all, I want you to wear your Le Chien Noir jewelry and enjoy it! But there are a few things you can do to help it stay in great shape for years to come
You should try to avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, cleaning products, lotions and perfume. It's a good idea to remove your jewelry before showers, pools and hot tubs, for instance. I'm guilty of leaving it on much of the time, but I do try to remember to take it off. The same goes for when you're working with your hands, for instance with tools, in the garden, painting, cleaning house, etc. This will help you avoid scratching your jewelry, both the sterling silver or gold and the stones.
When you're not wearing it, story your jewelry in a cool, dry place (not your bathroom!) and put it in a sealed plastic bag to prevent tarnishing, which happens when sterling silver is exposed to oxygen. If it does tarnish, use a soft jewelry cloth or compound and rub it gently. Dish soap and water and a soft toothbrush work wonders for a simple cleaning, too.
